Hip Replacement  Mortality GRAPH   BACK to List of IndicatorsD        R        A        F        T
Planned replacement of a diseased hip joint with an artificial joint is a common procedure to treat disabling pain or improve hip function. The mortality rate is low for this procedure, as would be expected in a procedure designed to improve function rather than extend life. The patients are often elderly, and many have multiple medical conditions. Instructions on interpreting this graph
For technical information on the relationship between the indicator and quality of health care services, go to the AHRQ detailed evidence on Hip Replacement Mortality Rate.
