About this Satisfaction Report:
What plans are included in this report?
Most Colorado plans are reported here. The plans reporting results here provide leadership in bringing quality information to consumers.

Can I trust this information about health plans?
Physicians and scientists develop the standards. All health plans must use the same standards. Only AUDITED information is reported here. Independent auditors verify the way that health plans collect and measure information. Results are NOT reported if they are not statistically significant due to insufficient sample size, unaudited data, or the data collection processes do not conform to published standards.

The Satisfaction Survey is conducted by INDEPENDENT certified research firms. The research firms select the sample and compile the results. Over 3,000 Coloradans who were enrolled in their plan for at least one year were surveyed.

Where can I find information like this for my PPO or other type of insurance?
No other kinds of insurance plans will give consumers information like this.

Since 1995, the Colorado Business Group on Health and its members, along with area managed care plans, have been working on the "big picture" of health care quality for multiple health plans. The project builds on previous efforts in 1994 and 1995 reported in Health Pages© magazine. The survey of 1996 health care experience was begun in March, 1997, when area health plans were asked to participate in the third annual report. Independent verification of HEDIS indicators, that year by Catalyst Technologies, helps assure that plans can be compared. The project also presents a standardized consumer satisfaction survey, conducted by the Center for the Study of Services. Information from the State Division of Insurance also appears in this project.

About these reports:
Important aspects of healthcare quality are measured in different ways.
HEDIS (Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set) is a tool used by more than 90 percent of America's health plans to measure performance on important dimensions of care and service. There are 71 HEDIS measures. Health plans use HEDIS results themselves to see where they need to focus their improvement efforts. HEDIS is designed to provide YOU with the information needed to reliably compare the performance of Colorado’s health plans.
