CBGH Organized the 5th Annual

The Colorado Business Group on Health is proud to announce the release of Colorado Health Matters Quality Report: Physicians. By working with the Bridges to Excellence Program, CBGH, CBGH Members, and Colorado health plans are able to identify and award those physicians that practice exemplary diabetes and cardiac care.
New this year are the results of research comparing the performance of BTE diabetes Recognized physicians with non-recognized doctors. CBGH studied two years of Colorado medical claims data for national health plans that cover Colorado. By utilizing the PROMETHEUS model for determining possible savings, CBGH found that diabetes Recognized physicians had lower average costs and fewer average potentially avoidable costs. |
This occurs because patients who see BTE diabetes recognized doctors were less likely than other similar patients to need emergency room services or be admitted to the hospital in general for diabetes related complications.
The report identifies those Colorado physicians that follow national standards indicative of improved patient health. Consumers and patients can use this tool to find quality health care practitioners while learning about two diseases that are the first and seventh leading cause of death in the United States.
