J O B B R I E F:
Responsible for the research, development and administration of Compassion’s Domestic Health and Wellness benefit programs. Serves as subject matter expert for these components of Compassion’s total reward strategy. Designs health and wellness, retirement and life safety programs that protect the employee, their family members and Compassion from financial risks. Works closely with key stakeholders and external service providers to develop plans that are competitive and relevant to the organization. Manages the policies and procedures that govern local benefit plans. Develops cost control procedures to assure maximum coverage at an efficient cost to Compassion and its employees.
E S S E N T I A L J O B F U N C T I O N S
Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully upholds Compassion’s ministry in prayer.
Acts as an advocate for children – raising the awareness of the needs, neglect, nurture, and potential of children in poverty and challenging and enabling those within one’s influence to greater involvement and effectiveness on behalf of children.
Manages Compassion’s benefits programs to ensure the company remains competitive in attracting and retaining talent and provides analysis and recommendations to senior management on compliance, technology and benefits strategies.
Proactively reviews and analyzes emerging market trends and changes to federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising senior management on best solutions for Compassion.
Partners with Human Resources leadership and Legal Services to ensure health and welfare plans comply with appropriate legal requirements, including ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, IRS, Section 125 plans, and discrimination testing.
Researches, analyzes and performs strategic review to develop specifications for new plans or to modify existing plans to ensure Compassion’s competitive position, contain/reduce costs and improve coverage to meet employee needs.
Installs new plans and programs; considers, develops and implements change management and communication strategies.
Manages and maintains relationships with outside contacts including vendors, brokers and consultants; represents Compassion to external contacts on matters related to these programs.
Prepares and executes, with legal consultation, benefit documentation such as original and amended summary documents/fact sheets on existing benefit plan agreements and insurance policies; outline new mandates or changes to current obligations. Instructs insurance carriers, trustees, and other administrative agencies outside the company to effect changes in benefit program. Ensures prompt and accurate compliance.
Researches, develops and manages health and wellness, retirement and life safety programs that balance stewardship, external competitiveness and cost.
Provides guidance, leadership and work direction for staff
Develops meaningful reporting statistics and census data for management, and provides analysis and appropriate recommendations/conclusions based on findings.

J O B Q U A L I F I C A T I O N S
Has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
Education: Bachelors in human resources, business or equivalent academic area of focus
Experience: Six years experience in human resources including four years designing and administering benefits programs
Certifications/Licensing: CBP or SPHR preferred
Other Required Skills: Strong Microsoft Office skills including advanced Excel abilities; ability to maintain confidentiality
